There’s a thread over at io9 where two posters are calling each other dumbfuck and beta troll for all to see, while I sit here celebrating 5+ years in the grey.
What’s the most ridiculous meal you can come up with that could still (ostensibly) be eaten by a normal person? Mrs. Hatrack told me I could make anything for dinner except for PB&J since that’s what she packed for lunch. I yanked her chain a bit by telling I would have to change my plans then.
Leonard Nimoy, famous for his role as the stoic Vulcan who stood as second in command of the Starship Enterprise on the mid-1960s sci-fi television classic, Star Trek, has died. He was 83 years old.
I've long had this strange fascination for baseball. I have no idea why. I've bought and read books about it (The Art of Fielding, which is now one of my favorite books, and Don DeLillo's Underworld, which I have yet to read), and yesterday I started watching Ken Burns' documentary series on the subject, which I…
WARNING: this thread is half advice column, half weepy personal confession (yes, it's one of those threads). Please don't feel like you haveto read/comment here if you don't want to. Sorry if I kill the mood this evening.
Any actual genre shows you can't watch because you felt it was just shy of Seventh Heaven when it comes to being preached to?
Even though it has basically nothing to do with io9's raison d'être, I couldn't resist sharing this.
I know we're not usually having those sorts of tech discussion on the O-Deck, but I can't find where anyone on GawkerMedia is and my life is about to be upended—in a couple months GrooveIP stops working and I can no longer make VOIP calls with my Google Voice number on my Android devices. WHY????
Like, Voltaire maybe? I can't find it anywhere on the world wide web.
Today I went to my first ever protest. And boy, did I pick it: the largest protest in Romania since the 1989 revolution. So what mobilizes so many people after 23 years of inertness? What could be Europe's largest open-pit cyanide mining operation.
So, this is going on in Romania. And of course there are a million of articles about the protesters. Not the cause, but the protesters.
Like any self-respecting single male, I leave all my washing till I literally have nothing else to wear. After so many years, its become a fine art and I have no issues. Until today.
Anyone ever play Heroclix? These are ones I made into the Blues Brothers. More after the jump. (inspired by Greedo's post)
I'm back from my 4-day vacation at the seaside, and my legs ache!
So, in response to the recent controversy about Russia's anti-gay laws the International Olympic Committee has decided that not only will they not do anything to protect any LGBT athletes but they might also punish any athletes speaking in support of LGBT rights.
Okay, I tried. I really tried. I've been trying since yesterday. But I can't anymore. I need to share this pic with you guys. It's really kind of off topic even though he's in this summer's first big blockbuster movie and this year's last big box office movie. I wanted to go with our mighty mod's guidelines. I really…
I saw the heroine of our story sitting on the BART. The train wasn't busy in the afternoon along the "anti-commute" line, so it was only a few of us spread out far and wide. She was thin but not skinny and wore one of those wispy skirts that always make me want to send God a fruit basket for inventing summer. The…
As we grow up we hear lots and lots of "conventional wisdom" kind of tidbits about how to behave, how to be successful and so on. But so much of it is bullshit.
I can post to Oppositelock. And I didn't even ask for access.
